Standardization Doesn't Limit Innovation
One of the biggest misconceptions I see in technology organizations is that standardization limits innovation. I've come to believe the opposite. When every team chooses different tools, builds unique processes, or solves the same problem in different ways, we don't create innovation. We create complexity.
Standardization isn't about taking choices away. It's about eliminating unnecessary decisions so people can focus their creativity where it creates the most value. When you standardize the foundation, you give teams the freedom to innovate on the things that matter.
The goal is to remove friction so talented people can spend more time solving meaningful problems.
